FABCONDA Challenge: This is a 'three races in three days' format triathlon. The 3 races (5km run, 1km open water swim, 20km bike ride) will have a handicap start. The handicap is based on previous time trials or on estimated finishing times. Slow athletes first, fast athletes last. Each individual race will have a triathlon skill component. The races and triathlon skill components form 6 stages. Athletes can participate in any of the 6 stages.
FABCONDA Award: The award winners will be the first 3 females and the first 3 males who compete in the most stages with the fastest combined time.
COSTS: If you are currently holding a F4F training card, no entry fee is required except the entry fee for the 5km run conducted by the Wodonga Athletic Club.
Non F4F training card holders: O.W.S. Race $8 - Cycle Race $8 - Run Race (entry fee for the 5km run payable to Wodonga Athletic Club applies).
REGISTRATION: Your nomination for this challenge needs to be forwarded to Fabrizio before Thursday of the race week.
DETAILED INFORMATION:
• Thursday at Sumsion Gardens, Wodonga, run and transition (bike to run)
Race 1 5km Run Handicap Start. Sumsion Gardens, Wodonga. The bike warm-up on the wind-trainer is compulsory if you are competing for the awards. As we are triathletes, we are better runners after a long warm-up. This is a good opportunity to test your off-bike running. Come along with your wind-trainer and bike and join in the easy warm-up session. If you don't have a wind trainer contact me. We will organise a meeting recovery point at the race venue. After the race we will gather for dinner in town.
6.15pm Warm-up bike session on wind-trainer in preparation for the run.
7.00pm Run 5km time trial handicap start.
Entry fee for the 5km run payable to Wodonga Athletic Club applies.
8.30pm Dinner in town.
• Friday at Lake Hume, Bonegilla, swim and transition (swim to run)
Race 2 Open Water Swim Timettrial. The time trial will include a short beach run before, during and after the swim. It is compulsory to wear a swimming cap. As we are triathletes, we have to swim in open water and run to transition. Therefore, the start and finish will be on the beach. Wetsuits are allowed but not compulsory. Athletes wearing wetsuits have to take the wetsuit off after the swim as part of the time trial. Competitors can use fins.
5.30pm meeting and warm up. 6.00pm start. Distance options: 500m, 1km and 2km open water swim time trial handicap start.
• Saturday at the Kangaroo Store, Bonegilla, ride and transition (bike to run).
Race 3 Bike Time Trial. It is compulsory that the athlete competing for the awards will attend the easy run after the Bike Time Trial. As we are triathletes, we have to run after the bike leg, so join the group recovery run. Aerobars are suggested for the bike time trial.
7.30am Bike course familiarisation
8.15am Bike 20km or 10km time trial handicap start.
10.00am Group run off bike at recovery pace.
