Altitude Training Weekend in Falls Creek.
Falls Creek has become an established pilgrimage for Australian runners and mountain bikers of all abilities for over 30 years – it enables athletes to put in a solid block of training during the hottest time of year to set them up for coming endurance challenges and events.
Escape the heat and join us for a weekend of running and mountain bike activities. The places in the lodge are limited. 1, 2, and 3 day training packages are available. Come and enjoy the peaceful surroundings, do as much or as little training as you wish in pleasantly cool conditions.
Activity program: Participants can chose programmed activities or their own training. Each day you will have three main training sessions, two in the morning and one in the afternoon. Activity session options: running, road cycling, mountain biking, open water swimming and kayaking. Participants can choose one of the proposed activities for each session or decide to skip sessions as they wish. The weekend training program includes sport specific sessions for Triathlon, MTB and Multisport events. These sessions will focus on selecting and finalising clothing, equipment as well as nutrition and hydration during a long self-supported event. The difficulty of the courses and the intensities of the pace will very from low to medium. The MTB sessions will be between 2 and 6 hours. The Multisport program will includes kayak paddle sessions. For other options, contact me.
Booking and Deposit: $50 deposit per person is required with the booking. The fee is not non-refundable and is required with the booking.
Clothing & Equipment: The equipment to bring is in accordance with the activities. The technical equipment must be fully serviced as the area does not offer bike mechanical assistance. In choosing the gear, consider the number of sessions and the variability of the weather. Organise the gear in advance and allow for extra gear. Small first aid kit, bike repair kit, energy food and hydration fluid have to be planned and organised before the activities. This is a great opportunity to optimise your clothing and equipment for a long self-supported event, to avoid inconvenience such as chaffing and to ensure a comfortable cycling position and optimise your energy intake to maximise your performance.
Weather: Mild during the days and cool/cold during the nights is the probable weather. Days can be cold and rainy, even at this time of the year. Therefore, bring clothing appropriate to a range of conditions, including wet weather gear. Sun Smart policy is highly recommended, e.g. sun cream, hat, sunglasses and long sleeve shirts are the perfect protection during training.
The places in the lodge are limited. Be quick to confirm your interest.
